Ged® Testing with Learning Disabilities

Students with learning disabilities often struggle to finish high school and obtain their high school equivalency certificates. Because the unique symptoms students with disabilities face, traditional schooling may not meet all of their needs. The high school equivalency certificate is a great alternative for students with learning disabilities, and the testing services provide accommodations to students who need it. Learning programs for students with disabilities may be hard to find locally, but the online Essential Education program has been designed with all student types in mind.

Common learning disabilities students may have include ADD/ADHD, Dyslexia, or other intellectual or psychological disorders.

Symptoms of ADD/ADHD can interfere with learning. Students with ADD/ADHD may experience difficulty focusing, fidgeting, absent-mindedness, forgetfulness, problem paying attention, or short attention span.

Dyslexic students may have difficulty memorizing, spelling, or thinking and understanding. Reading in particular can be difficult for students with dyslexia.

Other disabilities that may qualify you for accommodations on the test are physical disabilities, psychological disorders, chronic health disabilities, and hearing or visual impairment. With special accommodations and a study program that takes these disabilities into account, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t be able to pass the test and get your high school equivalency certificate!

Online studying can help students with ADD/ADHD, Dyslexia, or other learning disorders. With the Essential Education online study program, students can study in short bursts if needed, and they can choose when to study. This allows them to choose the best study environment for themselves. There are audio options for students who struggle with reading, so they can listen to each passage while they read, which can help focus understanding. We suggest Google Screen Reader for lessons that are not read by Leonard. Pop up boxes are not available on audio. Additionally, the option to review lessons gives students the ability to control when they move on, rather than forcing them to follow a scheduled curriculum. The Essential Education virtual classroom is more flexible to meet student needs, no matter what disabilities they have.
